About Peekray
Peekray is a free Chrome extension that shows where a link really goes and warns you before you open phishing and scam links.
- What it is
- A free scam link checker: a Chrome extension (it works in Edge too), a link checker on peekray.com, and a phone page for checking texts, WhatsApp messages, emails and QR codes.
- Price
- Free, with no account and no ads.
- Works on
- Chrome and Microsoft Edge on a computer; any phone browser, with a home-screen app on Android and iPhone.
- How it decides
- It follows a link’s redirects to the real destination, looks it up in three public phishing and malware lists (OpenPhish, PhishTank and URLhaus), and asks Jev, TypeSafe AI’s decision model, about links no list knows yet.
- Made by
- An independent developer in the UK.

The name
Peekray, the scam link checker at peekray.com, was called LinkGuard until October 2026, and its old address (linkguard-one.vercel.app) forwards here. It isn’t related to the PeekRay X-ray resource pack for Minecraft, or to other products called LinkGuard.
What it does
- Tells you what to do now. When a link looks risky, pick what already happened: you haven’t opened it, you opened it, you typed a password, or you paid. Peekray shows the next steps, such as who to call and where to report it. It’s in the extension’s toolbar popup and under a warning on this site.
- Says why, in plain words. Every warning comes with its reasons, like “The address pretends to be a well-known brand” or “Registered this week, and already asks for a login”, so you can see what’s wrong for yourself.
- Right-click a link. Right-click a link and choose Check this link with Peekray to check it on the spot, without resting the pointer on it.
- Works in your email. Gmail and Outlook in the browser are covered: rest the pointer on a link in an email and a tag shows where it really goes.
- Flags a scam on the page. The Peekray icon in the toolbar shows a red ! when a link Peekray checked on the page is a likely scam. Click it to see the latest links checked on that page, each with its answer, or paste a link to check it without opening it.
- Chrome, Edge and the keyboard. It installs from the Chrome Web Store, which Microsoft Edge can use too. Move to a link with the Tab key and the same tag appears as when you rest the pointer on it.
